Tilapia farming has immense potential for increasing both the nutrition and economy of local farming communities. As a source of lean protein, tilapia will improve the nutritional status of those who lack access to diverse or for that matter any complex protein sources as well as increasing their income thru the sale of this commodity. Through our partnership with the Agriculture and You agronomists, we are making a significant contribution to the growth and success of Liberia’s tilapia farming industry.

We maintain a nursery of fingerlings of Nile tilapia which we have found to be the best variety for fish farming. Secondly, we advise farmers on the proper layout of a tilapia farm where managing water sources is critical to success of the farm.

We are also experimenting with improved fish feed, including both pelletized high-protein feed, as well as the use of algae supplementation to improve the fishes’ nutrition and to reduce feed cost.
